For the first time the Embassy of Sri Lanka took part in 11th Kazakhstan International Fair Travel & Tourism “KITF 2011” which was held from 20th -22ndApril, 2011 in Almaty, Republic of Kazakhstan.
10 Sri Lankan tour companies participated at the event: Delux Holidays, Ceylon Tours, Connaissance de Ceylan, Concord Exotic Voyages, Tangerine Tours, Jetwing Travels, Calista Travel, Look Asia Holidays, Maldiviana Sri Lanka, Aitken Spence Travels.
H.E. the Ambassador Udayanga Weeratunga opened the Sri Lanka stand and wished all companies to find a new partner and improve relationship with Kazakh tour operators.
During the Fair H.E. the Ambassador had a meeting with Vice President Marketing and Sales Air Astana regarding the regular direct flight from Almaty to Colombo as well as with Vice President SCAT Air Company, President Sayakhat Air Company, and General Director TezTour Kazakhstan to discuss direct charter flights possibilities.
During the visit to Kazakhstan the Ambassador had a meeting with the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan and reviewed the current situation on the travel market and future close cooperation in the field of tourism between Sri Lanka and Kazakhstan.

Впервые Посольство Шри Ланки приняло участие в Международноц Туристической Выставке KITF 2011, которая проходила в Алматы, Республика Казахстан. Вместе с Посольством в выставке участвовали.
Во время выставки на стенде присутствовал г-н Посол Шри Ланки Удаянга Виратунга, который пожелал участникам найти новых партнеров и развивать и укреплять отношения с казахскими тур операторами.

Во время выставки г-н Посол встретился с Вице-президентом по продажам и маркетингу авиакомпании Эйр Астана и обсудил возможность начала прямого регулярного сообщения между Алматой и Коломбо. Так зже прошли переговоры с Вице-президентом авиакомпании СКАТ, Президентом авиакомпании Саяхат и Генеральным директоров ТезТур Казахстан для обсуждения возможности организации прямого чартерного сообщения между Шри Ланкой и Республикой Казахстан.
Во время визита в Казахстан г-н Посол встречался так же с представителями Министерства Туризма и Спорта Республики Казахстан и обсуждал текущее положение дед в туристической отрасли, а так же более тесное сотрудничество в сфере туризма между Шри Ланкой и Казахстаном.
