On the 09th of February 2009 the Embassy of Sri Lanka took place in the workshop for travel agents. The event was organized in cooperation with tour operator RUSSIAN EXPRESS dealing with Sri Lanka and covered about 64 agents. H.E. the Ambassador of Sri Lanka in Russian Federation Udayanga Weeratunga was the guest of honor on the event. The program of the meeting was completely devoted to Sri Lanka as the best destination within Asia.
During 1.5 hours H.E. the Ambassador was telling about the country, some aspects of traveling, customs and visa formalities, and souvenirs as well as the main historical heritage and ancient towns, culture and nature together with the main itinerary for tourists. During all time of the meeting participants had an opportunity to see the new images of Sri Lanka on the big screen.
The Ambassador announced the issue of the first audio guide CD on Russian language. It will be distributed among Russian and Sri Lankan travel companies for using in car and buses during the tour around the country. Embassy of Russian federation is continuing their work on the audio guide and is planning to issue the CD included the audio excursions about all main places of interest for Russian tourist such as Colombo, Polonnaruwa, Sigiriya, Dambulla, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, and Pinnawala together with nice story about tea, gems, ayurveda, spices, and dance.
All participants got presents from the Embassy such as video and brochures about Sri Lanka and the best Sri Lankan tea.

09 февраля Посольство ДСР Шри Ланки приняло участие в рабочей встрече в конференц-зале Арбат-Бизнес Центра, посвященной Шри Ланке. Семинар был организован многопрофильным туроператором «Русский Экспресс» для их агентской сети, на котором присутствовало около 64 менеджеров агентств. Почетным гостем на семинаре был Его Превосходительство господин Удаянга Виратунга, Чрезвычайный и Полномочный Посол ДСР Шри Ланка в Российской Федерации.
В течение 1,5 часов господин Посол рассказывал менеджерам агентств об особенностях отдыха в его стране, визовом режиме, Шри Ланкийских сувенирах, а так же об основных экскурсионных маршрутах и достопримечательностях острова. Г-н Удаянга Виратунга очень хорошо разбирается в вопросах туризма и дал советы и свои рекомендации относительно некоторых отелей как внутри острова, так и на побережье, рассказал легенды, которыми славится остров-чудо Шри Ланка. Выступление сопровождалось видео презентацией.С радостью г-н Посол поделился новостью о том, что Туристический департамент Посольства Шри Ланки закончил запись первого экскурсионного аудио гида на русском языке. Диск с аудио экскурсией будет распространен бесплатно среди Российских операторов и Шри Ланкийских принимающих компаний для дальнейшего использования его гидами на Шри Ланке. Сейчас продолжается работа над следующей серией экскурсий, а всего планируется записать полный экскурсионный маршрут, включающий в себя Коломбо, Полоннаруву, Сигирию, Дамбуллу, Канди, Пиннавелу, Нувара Элию и рассказы о камнях, специях, чае, аюрведе, а так же некоторых традициях и национальных танцах Шри Ланки.
В конце выступления г-н Виратунга отметил, что в связи с событиями последних месяцев, следует надеяться на полное завершение военных действий в стране и обнадежил туристическую общественность, что в Восточных провинциях, славящихся своими белоснежными пляжами, уже идет строительство новых отелей, которые в ближайшее время будут готовы принять туристов.
Во время встречи все участники получили подарки от Посольства ДСР Шри Ланка: видео фильм и брошюры о Шри Ланке, а так же знаменитый Цейлонский чай с фотографией семьи г-на Посла и его пожеланиями приятного чаепития.
В конце семинара перед аудиторией выступила заместитель начальника отдела Шри Ланки компании РУССКИЙ ЭКСПРЕСС Иванникова Елена и более подробно рассказала менеджерам туристических агентств о программах перелета, предлагаемых компанией, а так же коснулась подробно темы отелей Шри Ланки.
