On 8th May 2009 due to 2553 year of the celebration of Birth, enlightenment and of Lord Buddha calling Vesak, Sri Lankan community in Moscow and suburbs organize special religious ceremony at the Embassy of Sri Lanka. With the participation of Ambassador Udayanga Weeratunga and Mrs. Weeratunga special bana ceremony organized. Under the guidance of Ven. Sevenagala Jinorasa and Ven. Rakwane Gnanseeha Thero celebrated this ceremony.
Also additional to this on 8th and 9th may 2009 in front of the Embassy premises organized special tea dansela. In that days Embassy building decorated with color lights and special vesak pahan lanterns.

Празднование Буддистского праздника Весак, который приходится на первое полнолуние мая и отмечается в честь рождения, просветления и ухода в нирвану Будды, прошло в Посольстве Шри Ланки 8 мая 2009 года. Для всех желающих была организована религиозная церемония, под руководством преподобных монахов Севенагала Джинораса и Ракване Гнансеха Теро при участии Посла Е.П. Удаянга Виратунга и мадам Ума Виратунга.
В дополнение к этому, 8 и 9 мая перед зданием Посольства была организована специальная чайная стойка, где любой прохожий мог получить бесплатный стаканчик этого ароматного напитка. Во время праздника здание Посольство было нарядно украшено цветными флагами и специальными яркими фонариками.
