[:en]Sri Lanka signs MoU creating SCO Energy Club

H E Udayanga Weeratunga, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation signed on 24 January 2014 the Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s Memorandum of Understanding creating Energy Club, on behalf of the Government of Sri Lanka. The Energy Club is an open multilateral platform for development and expansion of co-operation in energy area within and beyond the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is a intergovernmental international organization creation of which was proclaimed on 15 June 2001 in Shanghai (China) by the Republic of Kazakhstan, the People’s Republic of China, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The main goals of the SCO are strengthening mutual confidence and good-neighborly relations among the member countries; promoting effective cooperation in politics, trade and economy, science and technology, culture as well as education, energy, transportation, tourism, environmental protection and other fields; making joint efforts to maintain and ensure peace, security and stability in the region, moving towards the establishment of a new, democratic, just and rational political and economic international order. Sri Lanka is a dialogue partner of the SCO.
The Presidency of the Energy Club rotates between the members of the SCO and Republic of Kazakhstan is its President for the year 2014. Mr Talyad Aliev, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation was present at the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding

0Его Превосходительство Удаянга Виратунга, посол Шри-Ланки в Российской Федерации подписан 24 января 2014 Меморандум Шанхайской организации сотрудничества о взаимопонимании для создания энергетических клуб, от имени правительства Шри-Ланки. Энергетический клуб является открытой многосторонней платформы для развития и расширения сотрудничества в энергетической сфере в пределах и за Шанхайской организации сотрудничества. Шанхайская организация сотрудничества (ШОС) является межправительственной международной организацией, которая была провозглашена 15 июня 2001 года в Шанхае (Китай) в Республике Казахстан, Китайской Народной Республики Китай, Кыргызской Республики, Российской Федерации, Республики Таджикистан и Республика Узбекистан.
Основными целями ШОС являются укрепление взаимного доверия и добрососедских отношений между странами-членами; содействие эффективному сотрудничеству в политической, торгово-экономической, научно-технической, культурной, а также образования, энергетики, транспорта, туризма, охраны окружающей среды и других областях; делает совместные усилия по поддержанию и обеспечению мира, безопасности и стабильности в регионе, двигаясь в направлении создания нового, демократического, справедливого и рационального политического и экономического международного порядка. Шри-Ланка является партнером по диалогу ШОС.
Президиум Энергетического клуба вращается между членами ШОС и Республика Казахстан является ее президент в течение года 2014 г Talyad Алиев, заместитель директора Департамента международного сотрудничества Министерства энергетики Российской Федерации присутствовал при подписании Меморандума о взаимопонимании.
