Ambassador Udayanga Weeratunga participated most popular Russian Festival, 9th May 2009 – Victory Day in the heart of Moscow – Red Square. More than 2500 special delegation from the different countries including Sri Lanka participated this event. Also President of Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev and Prime Minister of Russian Federation participated this memorable event.
H.E. the Ambassador had formal discussions with Russian Communist Party Leader Mr. Gennady Zyuganov and some Africa Ambassadors there.

Посол Шри Ланки Е.П. Удаянга Виратунга принял участие в праздновании Дня Победы 9 мая 2009 года на Красной Площади в Москве. На параде присутствовали более 2500 делегаций из различных стран мира. На параде присутствовал Президент России Дмитрий Медведев и Премьер-министр Владимир Путин.
Посол Е.П. Удаянга Виратунга в неформальной обстановке пообщался с лидероп Коммунистической Партии России Геннадием Зюгановым и некоторыми Послами из Африканских государств.
