The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Moscow held a special farewell reception for 3 diplomats, which are leaving the Embassy after 3 years of service, in a warm atmosphere of forthcoming New Year. The Ambassador of Sri Lanka H.E. Udayanga Weeratunga had a speech to thank all diplomats for their committed and diligent work for developing and strengthen relationships between Russia and Sri Lanka. The Ambassador resumed all the results of year 2010 with a review of hard work of the Embassy.
Ambassador’s Residence was put together all Embassy staff, friends, partners and all people who worked with Defense adviser Air Commodore Upali Chanratilaka, Minister Counselor Mrs. Premala Srikantha, Head of Tea Promotion, and First Secretary (Commercial) Mr. Sumedha Ponnamperuma.
In their personal speeches in return, all respected diplomats expressed their gratitude for support, assistance and warm welcome in Russia. Great appreciation was expressed to the Ambassador of Sri Lanka Udayanga Weeratunga and Madam Uma Weeratunga not only for support in their work but for taking care of them during their stay in Russia.
On the threshold of forthcoming New Year the Ambassador of Sri Lanka Udayanga Weeratunga made presents to all Embassy staff. Special dinner followed then. Songs were singing at the Residence until the midnight accompanying the national Sri Lankan drums from the private collection of the Ambassador.

Tеплой атмосфере наступающего Нового Года в Посольстве Шри Ланки состоялся прием в честь отъезда троих дипломатов, которые завершили свою службу в рядах Посольства Шри Ланки в Москве. Посол Шри Ланки Е.П. Удаянга Виратунга произнес слова благодарности дипломатам за их преданную и усердную службу на благо развития и укрепления отношений двух стран. Посол так же подвел итоги уходящего 2010 года, отметив огромную работу проделало Посольство в России.
В стенах резиденции Посла Шри Ланки Удаянга Виратунга собрались сотрудники Посольства, друзья, партнеры, все с кем приходилось работать Военному Советнику Коммодору авиации Упали Чандратилака, Руководителю Чайного Бюро Советнику министра г-же Премала Шриканта и Первому Секретарю (Торговля) г-ну Сумеда Поннамперума.
В своих ответных обращениях к присутствующим уважаемые дипломаты выразили признательность за поддержку, оказанное содействие и теплый прием в России. Огромная благодарность была выражена в адрес Посла Шри Ланки Удаянга Виратунга и Мадам Ума Виратунга не только за поддержку в работе, но и за заботу во время их пребывания в России.
В свете наступающего Нового Года Посол Шри Ланки Удаянга Виратунга вручил всем сотрудникам Посольства подарки к празднику. Гостям был предложен праздничный ужин. До позднего вечера в стенах Посольства пели песни в аккомпанементе национальных барабанов из частной коллекции Посла Шри Ланки.
