On the final day of the successful visit to Pakistan, President Mahinda Rajapaksa and the representatives of the integrated opposition, met with Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sartaj Aziz, on the 22nd of this month at the Islamabad, capital of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
It is sad to note that although Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif left the country in Pakistan during his visit to President Mahinda Rajapaksa during this period, the meeting with Pakistan’s Prime Minister’s foreign affairs advisor Sertraj said that it is very fruitful to have a meeting with the Pakistani President today.
Speaking about Sri Lanka’s support to Pakistan, Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa explained his feelings on existing ties with Sri Lanka. “The people of Sri Lanka and the then Sri Lankan Government have always supported us,” said Mr. Certih. Mr. Suresh emphasized that Mahinda Rajapaksa was a leader of the Pakistani people.
The Lakshman Kadirgamar Center for Pakistan’s National Defense University and Sri Lanka’s International Relations and Strategic Studies study has been signed between Sri Lanka and Pakistan during the recent past.
